Description
This is a short cooking sim/stealth action game, made for the GMTK Game Jam 2025. The goal of the game is to keep your donut shop running, but you're no longer being supplied with ingredients. You need to balance reaping your donut customers to gain resources with selling to them. This is a pretty literal game play loop, as well as you playing as a donut which is also a "loop".
Retrospective
Our main goals for the jam were having fun and learning Godot. For three of us, this was our first jam, and none of us had ever worked in Godot, so a lot of time was spent learning the engine. Both goals have definitely been achieved, although we would have liked to put more of our idea for the game in the final upload. We definitely overscoped for a first attempt in Godot with this project, so its far from finished. The full idea would include progressing narrative and dialogue across multiple in-game days, as well as unique NPCs and storylines, and the idea of having to balance your customer base on a day-to-day basis versus using them as resources. Using them as resources would remove donuts from your customer pool for the following days, requiring you to balance resource gathering vs still having enough customers. Much of the narrative was already written by our great writer Luc, which due to the time constraints unfortunately did not make it in.
All considered, we're glad to at least have a bare-bones version by the end of the jam. After the upload-lock lifts, we'll probably continue work on this concept in our spare time.
